It is Washington State PTA Advocacy Week, and we need your voice to let legislators know what is important for kids. Each will only take a few minutes each day!
Washington State is not meeting its “paramount duty to make ample provision for the education of all children residing within its borders” to fully fund basic education.
Ask legislators to prioritize K-12 education funding in the state’s operating budget by closing existing gaps in basic education funding for MSOC (Materials, Supplies and Operating Costs), special education services, and student transportation, so that state funding reflects and keeps pace with actual costs and current needs.
Today, there are two important ways to advocate for funding. The first is to sign in “pro” to the bills below. The second is to send a letter (via the link at the bottom of this email) to your legislators to prioritize K-12 funding. Both are quick and easy!
WSPTA is supporting three bills that have been introduced in the Senate and are scheduled for a hearing on February 11: Senate Bills 5187, 5192, and 5263.
We need as many people as possible to sign in “pro” by 3pm on February 11 to show our legislators that this matters to us!
Please click the links below, select “pro,” use “parent advocate” as your organization (you do not need to supply your street address).
